Campeão da Copa Super 8 nesse sábado após vencer o São Paulo em jogo emocionante por 78 a 77, o Minas não quer parar por aí. É o que diz o ala-armador minas-tenista Gui Santos, jovem de 19 anos e autor da cesta da vitória diante do Tricolor Paulista.
Segundo Gui Santos, que está em sua quarta temporada como profissional, o Minas vai em busca de outros títulos este ano. A equipe ainda disputa o NBB, onde é o terceiro da fase classificatória, e a Champions League Américas, torneio que é líder do Grupo C.
“A gente veio para ganhar tudo, veio para ganhar tudo. Tudo que for possível ganhar, a gente vai ganhar. A gente vai trabalhar igual a gente manteve trabalhando aqui no Super 8, focando em cada equipe, focando como a gente tem que fazer, mas a gente vai buscar sempre ganhar o máximo de campeonatos possíveis”, disse, em entrevista ao Superesportes, após a conquista da Super 8.
O Minas volta à quadra na quinta-feira, às 19h. A equipe recebe, na Arena, o Caxias do Sul, pela 13ª semana da fase classificatória do NBB, a primeira do segundo turno. Dois dias depois, também às 19h e pelo NBB, recebe o União Corinthians, para posteriormente voltar o foco à Champions.
Em 2 de fevereiro, o Obras Sanitarias-ARG, na Antel Arena, em Montevidéu, no Uruguai, pela segunda semana da fase de grupos. No dia seguinte, o time minas-tenista duela com o Biguá-URU, dono da casa, pelo fechamento da penúltima janela da fase de grupos.

Gui Santos é considerado um dos grandes prospectos do basquete brasileiro para o futuro e é colocado por sites dos Estados Unidos como um dos selecionados no Draft da NBA deste ano. Revelado pelo Minas e já com passagens pela Seleção Brasileira, o jogador, natural de Brasília, Distrito Federal, diz que a cesta decisiva nesse sábado foi uma prova de amor ao clube mineiro.
“Com certeza, ainda mais para mim que o Minas foi um clube tão especial. Cheguei aqui com 15 anos de idade, eles me ajudaram no meu desenvolvimento e hoje eu poder ter a oportunidade de fazer a última bola e conseguir ganhar o jogo por um título inédito, de ser campeão brasileiro, não tem satisfação melhor e não tem como eu demonstrar um amor uma gratidão maior pelo clube do que isso. Então, para mim é muito bom essa oportunidade”, afirmou.
